February 13/2009

PVC imports in Ukraine in 2008 increased 41%, compared to 2007, and moved at 158.6 kt, according to Market Report Company. After the record imports at the level of 19.2 kt, ever observed over the course of the recent nine years (that figure exceeded overall imports in 2000), PVC imports began to go down gradually.

In 2008, overall PVC-S imports increased 77%, compared to 2007, and moved at 111.3 kt. There was a significant increase in imports of Formosa’s resin (by 88%, compared to 2007), up to 24.1 kt. In spite of quite complicated logistics, imports of Chinese resin (Xinjiang Tianye, Suzhou Huasu
Plastics, etc.) increased 23%, and moved at the record level of 13.6.

The Ukrainian emulsion market was growing in 2008, as well (5% compared to 2007, up to 22.4 kt). Major emulsion imports belonged to Vinnolit and Vestolit (67% of overall imports in 2008).
