PE imports in Ukraine dropped by 24% over the first six months of 2009

July 26/2009
MOSCOW (MRC) -- PP imports in Ukraine dropped by 24% during the first half of 2009, compared to the same period last year, according to MRC.

Weak buying activity was caused by the drop in finished goods sales. Converters and traders were severely lacking turnover funds and they tried not to accumulate stocks as they did last year.
After the six months, PP-homo imports went down by 20%, and moved at 19.2 KT. Imports of LyondellBasell’s PP-homo dropped by 45%. Tomskneftekhim’s  PP-homo was not supplied during May-June. PP-impact consumption went down by 33%, as well. Today, major volumes of PP-impact belong to material produced by LyondellBasell’s and Borealis. In January-June, their share moved at about 69% of overall imports.

Contrariwise, PP-random imports increased 15% in the first half of the year. LyondellBasell’s is the leader among other foreign suppliers.
