Riots in Urumqi to affect Chinese PVC imports |
|
|
MOSCOW (MRC) -- Mass riots in Urumqi (China) resulted in cut communication lines and
Internet in the region; banks are closed, troops have been brought into
the town. Railway service between China and Kazakhstan is operating.
However, PVC shipments to Russia are being disrupted due to cut
communication.
|
| Some Russian PVC importers did succeed to get their shipments; though
shipments of PVC to the majority of companies have been put off
indefinitely.
There are two acetylene-based PVC producers in Urumqi – Xinjiang Tianye
and Xinjiang Zhongtai; their overall output capacity is at the level of
760 kt.
Last year, overall imports of PVC produced by those companies
exceeded 145 kt. This year, feedstock of those companies has not been
imported. |
