(plastemart) -- Ineos Nova will hike the price of its general purpose and expanded polystyrene by ┬50/ton and high impact polystyrene by ┬ 65, with effect from September 1, due to expected feedstock increases.
DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers will hike price of its Elvax and Elvaloy resins by ┬100 and ┬150/ton with effect from September 1, 2010.
(plastemart) -- Canada's largest petrochemical producer Nova Chemicals plans maintenance at its Joffre chemical plant (Alberta), where it houses three ethylene plants. Flaring associated with the maintenance is expected to continue until ⌠late afternoon.
KALUSH (MRC) -- The PVC-S plant at Kalush will switch to steady operations already early in 2011, Karpatneftekhim's CEO S.V. Chmykhalov said.
Equipment installation work will be accomplished in October, and test runs are scheduled for the end of 2010. At this stage, the overall PVC output capacity will be at the level of 300 kta. The launch of the plant at Kalush will finalize the Chlorine/Caustic Soda - Ethylene - VCM - PVC production chain, which is going to make the enterprise one of the most competitive in the FSU and East-European markets, as well as to set a base for further development of the company.
The engineering design and equipment installation are being carried out by Germany's Uhde, and the license has been issued by Vinnolit. Karpatneftekhim is controlled by Russia's oil major LUKOIL. Overall investments into the PVC production project exceeded USD 200 million.

Experts believe chlorine-caustic unit at Kalush will be the most state-of-the-art plant in Eastern Europe using membrane technology. The engineering of the project was provided by Uhde, which supplies the major equipment, as well. The overall nameplate capacity of the plant will be 200 kta of caustic soda and 180 kta of chlorine. Karpatneftekhim is controlled by Russia's oil major LUKOIL. Overall investments into the project exceeded USD 150 million.
(prw) -- Mollertech is investing $9.8m to start an injection moulding plant in Elberton, the company announced. The plant will serve automotive customers, primarily BMW.
The company's Moeller Tech unit will locate the plant in an existing 130,000-square-foot building that is already outfitted for plastics manufacturing. Mollertech, which is based in Bielefeld, Germany, said the plant will employ 75 people at its starting point.
