MOSCOW (MRC) - In April, the total production of large volume polymers in Ukraine fell to 31,000 tonnes. Production of polypropylene was suspended. Karpatneftekhim reduced the production of PVC, according to MRC analysts.
In April, the total production of large volume polymers (polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and polystyrene) in Ukraine decreased to 30,900 tonnes, down 17% compared with the March volumes. The main reason of the production decrease resulted from the suspension of PP output by Linik (TNK-BP).
Last month Karpatneftekhim (Lukoil Group) reduced the capacity utilization of PVC. Its output of resin made about 17,000 tonnes. In March, this figure exceeded 20,000 tonnes. In general, over the four months, the company produced 61,000 tonnes of suspension PVC.
Karpatneftehim slightly decreased the production of HDPE in April. The decline in production was due to the calendar factor. The total output of PE last month made slightly more than 9,000 tonnes.
In mid-April, Ukrainian producer Linik suspended the production of PP. Over the fortnight the company produced about 2,800 tonnes of polymers of propylene. The date of the resumption of PP production at Linik will be known this week.
Stirol Group continues to increase production volumes on the back of a seasonal increase in demand. Last month, the production of general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) and expandable polystyrene (EPS) made about 2,100 tonnes. In March, this figure was about 1,450 tonnes.
In general, in January-April 2012, the total production of large volume polymers in Ukraine rose by 60% compared to the same period a year ago and made about 126,000 tonnes.
