Intercoil to open a new polyurethane foam unit in RAK

(AMEinfo) -- In a step that reinforces its expansion plans, Intercoil International, the Dubai-based sleep products manufacturer, today announced plans to open its state-of-the-art polyurethane foam manufacturing plant in Ras Al Khaimah in Q 4, 2012, under the entity International industries LLC, a sister company of Intercoil International. The plant located at Al Ghail Industrial area in RAK.

The plant, which becomes fully operational in December 2012, boasts of the latest technologies in foam production, including a fully automated computerized long blocks handling and processing system. These technologies will greatly enhance production capacity, and will enable the company to produce all quality and grades of polyurethane foam including HR, and Viscoelastic.

Intercoil also plans to expand its presence in at least two new countries every year - it currently operates in 8 countries across two continents, and exports to more than 22 countries in the region.

Solvay to supply lithium salt grades for LPM batteries

(solvay) -- Solvay has announced that its Global Business Unit Aroma Performance will supply two Bollore Group affiliates, Batscap and BatHium Canada Inc, with specialty Lithium Salt grades (LiTFSI) for their Lithium-Metal-Polymer (LMP) batteries. Aroma Performance will manufacture its lithium salt electrolytes in its manufacturing specialty fluorinated derivatives plant at Salindres, France and in China.

This contract complements the strategic supply contract with both companies for specialty grades of Solvay's high performance polymer Solef PVDF which it struck last year. Both supply contracts are a result of a common R&D program of both Groups.

Dow to expand its business in Taiwan

(newstoday) -- Dow Chemical has announced recently that the company is focusing to double its revenue to achieve USD1.5 billion in Taiwan before 2015. The announcement was made during Peter Sykes's (President of the Greater China Region) visit to Taiwan.

Dow is aiming to accomplish its targets by paying more attention towards the flourishing green business in Taiwan, and enhancing mutual cooperation with the local companies.

Dow Chemical is an American multinational chemical corporation. As of 2007, it is the second-largest chemical manufacturer in the world by revenue after BASF. Dow is a large producer of plastics, including polystyrene, polyurethane, polyethylene, polypropylene, and synthetic rubber.

DuPont sells car paint business to Carlyle Group

(Canadian plastics) -- DuPont Co. has struck a deal to sell its car paint business to Washington-based investment firm Carlyle Group LP for USD4.9 billion. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2013.

This transaction is consistent with DuPont's vision to be the world’s most dynamic science company and long-term strategy of driving competitive advantages in agriculture and nutrition, advanced materials and biotechnology, which represent high-growth, high-margin opportunities, according to company sources.

DuPont’s performance coatings business primarily sells to auto paint refinishers. Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Co. are also key customers.

DuPont said it will still generate more than USD3 billion through sales of advanced materials to the auto industry. As part of the transaction, Carlyle will assume USD250 million of DuPont’s unfunded pension liabilities.

Trexel sets up a new subsidiary in China

(Canadian plastics) -- Trexel Inc. has established a Chinese subsidiary in Shenzhen in order to expand demand for its Mucell microcellular foaming technology. The company also has plans to open an additional satellite office in Shanghai.

Trexel (Shenzen) Technology Co will support Trexel’s operations in the Chinese market with a processing/engineering team, sales support personnel, technical and repair services as well as spare parts logistics. As part of the new subsidiary, an additional branch office, including development centre, is being established in Shanghai to support domestic and international automotive OEMs and Tier One suppliers.
