August 7, (plasteurope.com) -- SolVin lifted force majeure (FM) for PVC-S from its 320,000 t/y plant at Rheinberg / Germany at the end of July.
The PVC unit is operating normally, said Bruno van der Wielen, executive vice president of the business unit PVC suspension at the 75:25 Solvay-BASF joint venture.
He said the VCM feedstock unit is back on stream, but due to ongoing technical problems its production volume is still too low to supply other PVC sites.
When informing its customers of FM on 7 July the company said it had encountered problems in restarting the VCM facility following “intensive planned maintenance.” It said contingency plans would be put into place to cope with customer demand during the expected long outage.
