Borealis: FM lifted on HDPE from Stenungsund

August 12/2009

August, 12 (plasteurope.com) -- Borealis has lifted the force majeure declared in mid-July for “a number of grades” of HDPE from Stenungsund / Sweden. Production of HDPE was shut down in the wake of unspecified problems at the 625,000 t/y cracker, but LDPE was unaffected.

The cracker was restarted on 2 August, and all polyethylene production facilities are now operating at normal capacity, a spokeswoman for the polyolefins group told the newsletter PIE.
