Imports of expanded polystyrene dropped by nearly two times in Russia

MOSCOW (MRC) -- Imports of expanded polystyrene (EPS) dropped by nearly two times in Russia during January-July, compared to the same period last year (down to 34.84 kt) – MRC’’s analysts reporting. The Russian construction market has been demonstrating downward trend this year.



Imports of Asian EPS shrank nearly 2.5 times. Supply of Loyal’s material decreased almost three times, and those of Shinho’s feedstock went down by more than 1.5 times. Overall imports of feedstock produced by those companies have moved at 12.06 kt since the beginning of the year.

Russian converters and traders stopped buying Dongbu’s material. Contrariwise, imports of polystyrene produced by LG Chem and Styrochem went up by 13% and 68%, respectively.
