MOSCOW (MRC) -- European polystyrene (PS) prices for November shipment are expected to be cut for CIS markets on the back of price reductions of styrene monomer (SM), according to a ICIS-MRC Price Report.
Decline of oil prices puts pressure on SM prices in Europe. November contract SM prices were reduced by EUR85/tonne, from October level and was at EUR1,365/tonne FOB ARA (Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp).
Converters in their turn expected the reduction in prices of polystyrene and styrene plastics.
Part of the European producers have already announced prices for November shipments. This week the price of Polish expandable polystyrene (EPS) for CIS customers were cut by EUR30-40/tonne compared with October level.
European producer Styrolution also reduced its contract prices of general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) and high impact polystyrene (HIPS) for November shipments. Prices for consumers in the CIS were reduced by EUR65/tonne.
November prices of Ukrainian GPPS and EPS were not announced because of the outage of Stirol's facilities. Export prices of Russian EPS were kept at the rollover from October. Price offers for GPPS and HIPS for November export delivery are under discussion.
