August, 25 (Pudaily) -- On the heels of the EUR 84/t decline in the cost of styrene monomer (SM), BASF
(Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) has lowered its European gross
market price for general purpose polystyrene (GPPS, bulk) by EUR 25/t.
The chemicals giant announced the lower price, retroactive to 1
September 2009, on its plastics portal.
Herbert Fietzek, director business management commodities, said that
the retained difference in the two price levels will be used to improve
BASF’s sharply eroded margins on the business.
