MOSCOW (MRC) -- The overall imports of polyethylene (PE) to the Republic of Belarus increased by 11.9% over the first three months of 2015 to 22,700 tonnes. The linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) accounted for the main increase in demand, reported MRC analysts.
According to the National Statistical Office of the Republic of Belarus, March PE imports into Belarus grew to 10,200 tonnes from 6,800 tonnes a month earlier because of seasonal increase in demand for finished products from PE. The overall PE imports totalled 22,700 tonnes from January to March 2015 versus 20,300 tonnes over the same period a year earlier.
The structure of PE imports to Belarus by grades looks the following way over the stated period.
The overall March imports of low density polyethylene (LDPE) and LLDPE rose to 6,700 tonnes from 4,400 tonnes a month earlier. Middle East LLDPE accounted for the main increase in imports. The overall imports of these PE grades were about 15,300 tonnes over the first three months of 2015, up by 55% year on year.
March imports of high density polyethylene (HDPE) reached 3,500 tonnes versus 2,400 tonnes because of seasonally stronger demand for film grade HDPE. The overall imports to Belarus of this PE grade was 7,500 tonnes over the first three months of the year versus 10,500 tonnes a year earlier.
