MOSCOW (MRC) - Production of basic chemicals in Russia in the first four months of the year increased by 2.3%.
The largest increase in the output occurred for the caustic soda and xylol, as per the Federal State Statistics Service.
According to the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, Russia's ethylene production in April was 244,000 tonnes, compared with 233,000 tonnes in March. Total production of ethylene in the first four months of the year was 910,000 tonnes, up 4.8% year on year.
Production of benzene in April decreased to 97,400 tonnes, down 10% compared with March level. Total benzene production over the first four months of the year was 410,800 tonnes, up only 1.6% from the same period in 2014.
Russia's production of xylol in April decreased to 47,000 tonnes, compared with 54,700 tonnes in March 2015.
Production of xylol in January-April 2015 totalled 200,900 tonnes, up 11.5% year on year.
April production of sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) decreased to 88,000 tonnes (100% of the basic substance) against 113,000 tonnes in March. Russia's production of caustic soda grew to 385,200 tonnes in the first four months of the year, up 11.8% year on year.
April production of mineral fertilizers was 1.7 mln tonnes (in terms of 100% nutrients), up 6.2% compared with the March level. Russia's production of mineral fertilizers in the first four months of the year was about 6.5 mln tonnes, down 4.3% compared with the same time a year earlier.
