MOSCOW (MRC) -- Imports of high density polyethylene (HDPE) into Kazakhstan increased over the first seven months of 2015 by 26% year on year and totalled 42,500 tonnes, according to MRC DataScope report.
July HDPE imports to Kazakhstan rose to 9,400 tonnes under the pressure of seasonal factors from 8,000 tonnes a month earlier. Pipe grade polyethylene (PE) of Saudi Arabian producers accounted for the main increase, shipments from Russia, on the contrary, were reduced. The overall HDPE imports grew to 51,900 tonnes from January to July 2015 versus 41,100 tonnes over the same period a year earlier. Local pipes producers traditionally accounted for the main increase in PE imports.
The HDPE consumption structure by processing sectors was not changed much over the stated period. Pipe grade PE accounted for more than 85% of the total consumption. The film grade PE sector is the second largest consumption sector, its share is about 10%.
Russian HDPE producers still occupied a key role in the local market in the supply structure by countries-suppliers. Their share in the total deliveries was a little more than 73% over the said period. Producers from South Korea and Uzbekistan occupied the second and third places in the PE supply structure of the local market.
