MOSCOW (MRC) - Imports of unmixed polyvinyl chloride (PVC) into Kazakhstan dropped to 27,700 tonnes in January-July 2015, down 30% compared with the same time a year earlier, according to MRC analysts.
July imports of unmixed PVC into the country seasonally grew to 9,000 tonnes, compared with 5,700 tonnes in June. Total PVC imports into Kazakhstan decreased 27,700 tonnes in the first seven months of the year, compared with 39,700 tonnes year on year. Such a serious decline in PVC imports in Kazakhstan resulted from a fall in demand from local producers and practically complete cessation of further re-imports of resin in Russia.
According to the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the volumes of re-imported resin in Russia over the reported period exceeded 6,000 tonnes.
Because of the geographical location of the main suppliers of PVC to the local market were producers from China, with share in the local market during the period about 98%.
