MOSCOW (MRC) -- China’s ShenHua Chemicals is operating its styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) unit at 60% in January, a company source told TPS.
It is located in Nantong, Jiangsu province, and has a production capacity of 180,000 mt/year.
"Tyre production is still low and demand for SBR remains abysmal," the source added.
As MRC wrote before, in 2014, Zhuhai Zhongguan Petrochemical started a new butadiene plant. Located in Guangdong, China, the plant has production capacity of 70,000 mt/year.
Besides, we remind that Hungarian refiner MOL Group commissioned a new butadiene plant in Hungary in November 2015. The factory, built at a cost of 35 billion forint, will produce 130,000 metric tons of butadiene annually. It started full commercial operation in the last quarter of 2015.
