LDPE prices rising in Russia

September 11/2009
MOSCOW (MRC) -- LDPE prices continue to rise in Russia. In September, the Russian LDPE market may face lack of material due to scheduled repairs at Kazanorgsyntez, Salavatnefteorgsyntez, Angarsk Plastics Plant, and Polymir (Novopolotsk).

Many companies began to accumulate stocks still at the end of August. At the beginning of September, there were some interruptions in supply of the 158th PE grade produced in Kazan and Ufa. Prices for Kazan PE hit this year’s all-time high – RUB47.500–48.500/mt, including VAT.

Meanwhile, prices for Tomsk and Ufa LDPE vary within the range of RUB44.000–45.000/mt; however, prices are expectedly to rise already on Monday.

It is hard to forecast whether volumes of PE produced in Tomsk and Ufa are sufficient to meet market demand in September – beginning of October. Tomskneftekhim exports over a half of its LDPE output.

For more detailed information on the market of PE, see Price report.
