MOSCOW (MRC) - Production of high density polyethylene (HDPE) in Russia increased to 501,900 tonne in the first six months of 2016, up 14% year on year. All Russian producers have increased HDPE production, the only exception was only Kazanorgsintez, according to MRC DataScope report.
June HDPE production in Russia was 83,900 tonnes, while in May it was about 87,300 tonnes. Nizhnekamskneftekhim reduced production volumes, which in mid June shifted to the output of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE). Total HDPE production in Russia reached 501,900 tonnes in January-June 2016 against 438,400 tonnes year on year. All the Russian producers increased production volumes, except for Kazanorgsintez. The greatest increase in production volumes showed Stavrolen.
Structure of PE production over the reported period looked as follows.
Kazanorgsintez decreased HDPE production in June to 39,000 tonnes compared with 41,200 tonnes in May. The producer have produced about 237,500 tonnes of HDPE in the first six months of the year, down 9% year on year.
June production of HDPE at Stavrolen increased to 24,200 tonnes against 17,700 tonnes in May. Stavrolen shut its capacities in May for short turnaround. Stavrolen produced about 131,200 tonnes of HDPE in January-June, compared with 55,500 tonnes year on year. The plant was shut from February 2014 to April 2015 because of the accident on the production of ethylene.
Nizhnekamskneftekhim had switched to LLDPE production in the second half of June, as a result, HDPE production fell to 10,400 tonnes, compared to 19,200 tonnes a month earlier. HDPE output at Nizhnekamskneftekhim in January-June slightly exceeded 77,200 tonnes, up 8% year on year.
Gazprom neftekhim Salavat speeded production rates in June, having increased HDPE production to 10,400 tonnes compared with 9,200 tonnes in May. Total HDPE production at Gazprom neftekhim Salavat increased to 55,900 tonnes in January-June, compared with 50,900 tonnes year on year.
