MOSCOW (MRC) - Imports of unmixed polyvinyl chloride (PVC) into Kazakhstan increased to about 23,000 tonnes in January-June 2016, up 20% compared with the same time a year earlier, according to MRC analysts.
June imports of unmixed PVC into the country increased to 6,300 tonnes, compared with 5,300 tonnes in May. Total PVC imports into Kazakhstan grew 23,000 tonnes in the first six months of the year, compared with 18,600 tonnes year on year. Such a significant increase in imports of PVC in Kazakhstan was a result of stronger demand for finished products made of PVC in the local market.
Production of plastic windows and window sills reached 11,400 tonnes in the first half of the year, up 6.3% more than in the same time in 2015. Volumes of production of plastic pipes also increased to 62,500 tonnes over the reported period, up 10,2% year on year.
Local companies re-exported part of the imported PVC into Russia. The main suppliers of PVC in the local market were producers from China, with their share more than 99% from the total PVC imports into the country.
