MOSCOW (MRC) -- GTC Technology has supplied its proprietary GT-DWC technology for a second Dividing Wall Column for Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) at the DTA Refinery in Jamnagar, India, reported Hydrocarbonprocessing.
The project was unique in that a separation process, previously made by two naphtha splitting towers, was altered to be made in only one of the towers, which was converted to a GT-DWC configuration.
GTC provided a single-source responsibility for process license, Basic Engineering Design, equipment supply and process guarantees.
"Revamps utilizing the GT-DWC process are small-scale projects and often offer a payback of less than six months," said Manish Bhargava, GTC Licensing Manager for Advanced Distillation Systems. "We are excited to work with RIL and continue our track record of providing leading-edge solutions for our clients."
As MRC informed before, Reliance Industries is implementing a new project to source 1.5 million tpy of ethane feedstock from the US to feed its crackers in India.
Besides, RIL has announced that it would invest over Rs 100,000 crore in expansion of its petrochemical capacities and adding value to its refining business.
Reliance Industries is one of the world's largest producers of polymers. The company's polymer production in 2010-11 (polypropylene, polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride) made 4,094 kilo tonnes.
