Imports of PC and compounds into Russia increased by 58% in Jan-Feb

MOSCOW (MRC) -- January-February imports of polycarbonate (PC) and compounds into Russia, excluding deliveries from Belarus, totalled 1,840 tonnes, up 58% year on year, according to MRC"s DataScope report.

February imports of PC and compounds into Russia were 924 tonnes compared with 918 a month earlier. Imports of PC granules were 1,140 tonnes in January-February, or 62% from two months" total imports. Russia"s imports of injection moulding PC/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) were 470 tonnes over the reported period, or 26% from the total imports.

Exports of Kazanorgsintez"s PC in February sharply decreased to 130 tonnes compared with record high 3,800 tonnes a month earlier. Russia"s exports of PC were 3,970 tonnes in January-February, which was equal to the level in the same time a year earlier.

The structure of PC granules during the reported period was as follows.

Imports of injection moulding grades of general purpose PC granules were 690 tonnes or 61% from the total imports. Imports of optical injection moulding grades PC in Russia were 200 tonnes in January-February or 18% from the total imports volume. The rest of the volume of PC granules imports accounted for the grades foblow mouldingng and extrusion.

Overall Sabic"s shipments to Russia, excluding deliveries from Belarus, in January-February totalled 600 tonnes, Covestro"s deliveries were 550 tonnes and Trinseo (Styron) пїЅ 160 tonnes.
