PVC imports to Ukraine fell by 33%, exports by 6% in January-September 2019

October 15/2019

MOSCOW (MRC) - Imports of suspension polyvinyl chloride (SPVC) into Ukraine decreased by 33% in the first nine months of this year, compared to the same period in 2018 and reached about 35,500 tonnes. At the same time, sales of Ukrainian PVC to foreign markets dropped by 6% year on year, according to a MRC"s DataScope report.

Last month"s SPVC imports to the Ukrainian market slightly dropped to 4,200 tonnes from 4,300 tonnes in August , with US resin accounting for the main decrease in shipments. Overall SPVC imports reached 35,500 tonnes in January-September 2019, compared to 53,200 tonnes a year earlier.

European producers with the share of about 68% of the total imports were the key suppliers of resin to the Ukrainian market in the first seven months of 2019. Producers from the USA with the share of about 32% were the second largest suppliers. The growth in demand for Ukrainian PVC from the domestic market this year has led to a reduction in exports.

12,900 tonnes of suspension were shipped to foreign markets in September, whereas this figure was 14,000 tonnes a month earlier. Overall, about 119,400 tonnes of PVC were shipped for export in January-September 2019 versus 127,600 tonnes a year earlier.
