October, 1 (plasteurope.com) -- Total Petrochemicals seems unable to break its cycle of bad luck. In the latest incident, on 23 September 2009 ethylene escaped at a polymerisation reactor at the Gonfreville-l’Orcher site and ignited. No one was hurt. A company spokeswoman told that PE production in Le Havre was idled as a result.
The incident occurred just as the group launched a comprehensive inspection of 13 sites in France, prompted by the string of accidents that have haunted Total’s French facilities since the beginning of 2009.
