PP-homo imports down 21% in Russia

October 05/2009
MOSCOW (MRC) -- Over the course of January-August, PP-homo imports decreased 21% (to 45.55 kt) in Russia, compared to the same period last year according to MRCs analysts. Imports of Asian PP-homo went down by 18 times due to the long logistics leg.
The share of PP-homo used to produce fibers and filaments moved at about 49% of overall PP-homo supply. Imports decreased 21% in that sector. Supply of Turkmenbashynsky Refinerys material dropped by nearly two times. This year, Russian converters and traders have stopped importing the Turkmenplene TPP D382BF grade (for reference, imports of that grade reached 3.22 kt in 2008).

The share of PP-homo injection moulding grade moved at about 34% of overall PP-homo imports.
Imports of that material dropped by 8%. There was a significant decrease in demand in the Russian injection moulding market in view of suspended operations of the largest car makers in Russia.
