Imports of pipe-grade HDPE down three times in Russia

October 07/2009
MOSCOW (MRC) -- Over the course of January-August, imports of pipe-grade HDPE went down by three times (to 27.50 kt) in Russia, compared to the previous year according to MRCs analysts.

Supply of Asian material decreased more than three times in the Russian market. Russian companies are not hurrying to increase imports in view of high prices for European and Asian polyethylene.

Imports of pipe-grade HDPE produced by Korea Petrochemical, LyondellBasell and Daelim down more three times, as well. Russian converters and traders have stopped importing Korea Petrochemicals P301E grade this year (for reference, they imported 7.96 kt in 2008).

Supply of material produced by Ineos Polyolefins and Shurtan Gas-Chemical Plant went down by nearly seven and six times, respectively.
