Prices for injection moulding HDPE might go up in Russia

October 13/2009
MOSCOW (MRC) -- Suspension of the production of injection moulding polyethylene grades at Kazanorgsyntez in September due to the scheduled maintenance, and lack of production of injection moulding grades at Nizhnekamskneftekhim and Stavrolen resulted in serious shortage of material in the domestic market.

Prices for Kazan injection moulding HDPE had moved at RUB56.000/mt, including VAT, by the end of the previous month.

HDPE demand was being partially met by I-0760 and I-1561 PE grades of Shurtan Gas-Chemical Plant. Overall imports of those grades in Russia moved at about 730 kt in September.

Kazanorgsyntez resumed production of injection moulding HDPE at the end of the last week; however, some trading companies had begun to offer the PE2NT22-12 HDPE injection moulding grade even before that.
Yesterday, prices for Kazanorgsyntezs material varied within the range of RUB51.00053.000/mt, including VAT, FCA Kazan. According to sources in the company, on Tuesday, October 13, the company suspended production of the PE2NT22-12 grade.
