Polypropylene demand goes down in Ukraine

October 19/2009
MOSCOW (MRC) -- Polypropylene (PP) demand continues to go down in Ukraine. Over the course of January-September, polypropylene demand decreased 12% in Ukraine, compared to the same period last year, and moved at 77.90 kt according to MRCs analysts.

Favourable situation in foreign markets allowed Linos to increase exports. Over the course of the nine months of the current year, PP-homo exports went up by 5%, and moved at 41.87 kt. Turkey and Russia are still the main importers of Ukrainian polypropylene.

This year, overall PP-homo imports have moved at 31.54 kt. Major volumes belonged to imports from the Czech Republic and Russia: 24% and 23% of overall PP-homo imports, respectively.

Production problems at one of the sites in the Czech Republic limited imports of Czech feedstock in September; that figure moved at 0.9 kt.
