PVC prices rising in Asia

October 22/2009
MOSCOW (MRC) -- In view of the decreasing US$, oil prices continue to grow and now they are moving closely toward USD80/brl. Last week, ethylene prices went up on average by USD20-30/mt, in Asia. PVC producers in NE Asia pushed up their prices by USD70-100/mt.
However, the Chinese PVC market has not responded to the rise in prices in NE Asia. European and North-American producers did not change their suspension prices, either.

At the same time, there is seasonal drop in demand, and it is not clear how long PVC prices are going to fall in Asia, and whether the situation in the market is to become stable and would prices go down.

For more details on the Russian PVC market, see Price reports.
