October 27/2009
MOSCOW (MRC) -- Over the course of January-September, polypropylene (PP) consumption went up by 3%in Russia and moved at 458.11 kt, as compared with the same period last year according to MRC.

AbsePolypropylene output increased 19% over the indicated period. Stavrolen increased PP output more than three times.

There was a slight decrease in PP exports in September caused by lower prices in foreign markets. At the same time, Russian producers were actively increasing exports to the CIS countries. In September, exports of PP-homo to Ukraine reached the highest level ever recorded this year and moved at 1.75 kt.

Buying activity became weaker in some consumption sectors due to seasonal factors. PP-homo imports in the sheet extrusion sector dropped by 78%.

PP-random imports rose by 25%. In the pipe extrusion sector imports of PP-random went up by more than three times. At the same time, about 59% of overall PP-random imports in that sector belonged to Borealis RA130E pipe grade.
