MOSCOW (MRC) -- Over the course of January-September, polystyrene
(PS) imports decreased 38% (to 98.07 kt) in Russia, as compared with
the same period last year. At the same time, there was this year’s
record as to imports of material in September (17.55 kt).
During January-September, EPS
imports dropped by 43%. There was a serious decrease in supply of
Loyal’s material (by 67%). Imports of the F-MS grade went down by
nearly seven times; that grade is used in production of EPS plates.
HIPS imports dropped by 36%. Supply of BASF’s feedstock decreased
nearly 1.5 times. At the same time, in September Russian companies
imported record HIPS volumes this year (1 035 mt). Nearly a half of that volume belonged to the Polystyrol 2710 grade.
ABSimports decreased 34%. Sabic’s material was not supplied in September. GPPSimports went down by 36%, those of SBS – by 32%; though SANimports demonstrated 6% growth.
