Estimated caustic soda consumption down 19% in Russia

MOSCOW (MRC) -- Over the course of January-September, estimated caustic soda consumption in Russia dropped by 19%, as compared with the same period last year, and moved at 636.77 kt according to MRC.

Caustic soda output went down by 14%. Kaustik (Volgograd) keeps leading positions in caustic soda production. Companys caustic soda output decreased only 8%.

Exports of liquid
caustic soda to Kazakhstan went up by 42% and moved at 31.42 kt. The share of exports to that country was at the level of 21% of the overall liquid caustic soda exports.
In September, imports of caustic soda went up by 50%, compared to August. The introduction of the European component into the import duty on rigid caustic soda would seriously affect imports volumes. Many trading companies will have to refuse from rigid caustic soda imports.
