PP-homo imports down 19% in Russia

November 09/2009
MOSCOW (MRC) -- Over the course of January-September, PP-homo imports went down by 19% (to 52.91 kt), as compared with the same period last year according to MRC.

Demand became much weaker in some sectors due to seasonal factors; at the same time, Russian producers stocks continue to grow. PP-homo demand will be falling within the nearest future. The most serious decrease in consumption is expected in the sectors of disposable tableware, fibres and filaments, as well as in the sector of food packaging.

PP-homo imports in the sector of fibres and filaments went down by 12% (to 26.96 kt). Supply of Turkmenbashynsky Refinerys material dropped by more than 1.5 times. This year, Russian companies have stopped imports of the Turkmenplene TPP D382BF grade.
PP-homo imports in the sheet extrusion sector fell by 78% (to 6.99 kt); one of the reasons of that decrease was weakened demand in the disposable tableware sector.
