Polystyrene imports down 15% in Ukraine

MOSCOW (MRC) -- Over the course of January-September 2009, polystyrene (PS) imports went down by 15% (to 39.27 kt) in Ukraine, as compared with the same period last year according to MRC.

EPS imports dropped by 22%. The share of imported feedstock produced by Loyal and Dwory moved at about 67% of overall EPS imports. LG Chems EPS was not imported in September.

HIPS imports went down by 16%. Ukrainian companies cut down imports from Hungary and Germany. At the same time, imports of Russian HIPS increased 22%.  

GPPS imports went up by 7%. Ukrainian companies increased feedstock imports in the sheet extrusion sector by 17%.

SBS imports went up by 4%, as well. At the same time, SAN imports remained at the same level as in the previous year.

ABS imports dropped by 31%. Ukrainian companies cut down imports of Asian material by nearly 1.5 times.
