Polypropylene prices rising in Asia

November 19/2009
MOSCOW (MRC) -- Polypropylene (PP) prices continue to rise in Asia and, according to market experts, the main reason is the growing propylene price in the region.

Increase in world oil and naphtha prices over the course of the last month seriously pushed up propylene prices. Last week, propylene prices moved closely toward USD1.100/mt, CFR, in Asia. During the month, the propylene price went up by more than USD150/mt.

Some producers from NE Asia have already announced their polypropylene prices for December. Prices for raffia and injection moulding material went up by USD20-30/mt, as compared with November.
Last week, PP prices in the Chinese domestic market increased by CNY50-100/mt (USD7-15/mt) due to activity in the market of PP processing products and expectations of further increase in prices in the near-term outlook.
