Polypropylene output up in Russia

MOSCOW (MRC) -- Over the course of January Ц October 2009, polypropylene (PP) output went up by 19% in Russia, compared to the same period of the previous year, and moved at 485.49 kt Ц according to MRC analysts.

Despite weak demand in the Russian market in October, average rate of utilization of PP production capacities was exceeding 90%. Over the course of the ten months, the most serious increase in output was recorded at Neftekhimiya (19%). Ufaorgsyntez increased output by 17%; and that figure moved at 95.89 kt.

Seasonal decrease in demand and growing stocks of Russian producers favored decrease in PP prices in October; however, the market situation became stable at the end of November. Growing exports facilitated stabilization of the market situation. PP-homo exports have increased three times, this year.
PP-homo exports have increased three times, this year. Strong PP demand in Asia pushed up exports to that region by 49%.
