Shell's ethylene plant to start up in Bukom in Q1-10

December 14/2009
December, 15 ( -- The start up Royal Dutch Shell PLC"s new ethylene plant on Bukom Island, Singapore, is as scheduled in Q1-2010, with a nameplate production capacity of 800,000 tpa of ethylene. The plant is part of the new Shell Eastern Petrochemicals Complex and will export about half its output, increasing regional ethylene supply. The balance half will be used as feedstock for Shell"s mono-ethylene glycol plant that was commissioned in November on Jurong Island.
Feedstock for the ethylene plant will be hydrowax as well as heavy gasoil, liquefied petroleum gas, and small portions of naphtha. These will be mostly supplied from Shell"s existing 500,000 bpd refinery on Bukom Island.
