MOSCOW (MRC) -- Over the course of January-October, estimated polystyrene (PS) consumption went down by 23% in Russia, compared to the same period last year, and moved at 279.12 kt – according to MRC analysts. |

Consumption of high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) and general-purpose polystyrene (GPPS)
dropped by 18%. In October, HIPS-GPPS imports went down by 50%,
compared to September. At the same time, 85% of HIPS and GPPS exports
were shipped to the CIS countries. In October, there was an increase in
imports in the sector of packaging (by 46%, compared to September).
Estimated consumption of expanded polystyrene (EPS)
decreased 30%. Over the course of the ten months, EPS imports moved at
61.57 kt. The share of EPS in overall PS imports in the Russian market
was at the level of 53%. |
ABS demand dropped by 40%. Russia’s ABS producer, Plastik, Uzlovaya, is
gradually increasing output volumes. The company produced 1.00 kt of
material in October.
