December, 21 ( plasteurope.com) -- The idled Vinyls Italia plants at Porto Marghera near Venice and Porto Torres on Sardinia failed to restart on 15 December, despite the 12 November agreement between Italian energy giant Eni and economic development minister Claudio Scajola. Italian unions are urging Scajola to assure that Eni respects its commitments.
However, Eni chief Paolo Scaroni declared in an interview with a Venice newspaper that chlorine chemistry has no future in Italy, and it is not his company’s fault. Scaroni blames bad political decisions for the misery. The ministry has been silent.
