HDPE imports down 11% in Ukraine in 2009

MOSCOW (MRC) -- In 2009, imports of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) in Ukraine went down by 11% (to 132.16 kt), compared to the previous year according to MRC analysts. Imports of South Korean material decreased more than three times.

Supply of Kazanorgsyntezs HDPE went up by more than two times (to 29.64 kt). The share of the 293-285D/Kazanorgsyntez film grade moved at about 30% of the overall imports of Kazan feedstock.

The most serious decrease in imports related to pipe-grade HDPE (nearly two times). Imports of Korea Petrochemicals material dropped by more than 2.5 times. Ukrainian companies have not been importing the P301E BL/KoreaPetrochemical grade since April 2009 (the share of that grade used to be at nearly 30% of the overall imports of that producers feedstock in 2008).
In December HDPE imports moved at the last-years maximum at the level of 16/09 kt.
