Pipe-grade PE production growing in Russia

At the end of the last year, production of that material decreased seriously in view of the seasonal drop in demand for pipes. In December, Russian producers cut down output of black pipe-grade HDPE by more than 5 kt, compared to November.

At the same time, nearly 7 kt of pipe-grade PE were exported. Lack of PE100 in December was partially covered by imports of HDPE from South Korea.

In January, output of black pipe-grade PE went up by one third compared with December. Nizhnekamskneftekhim produced the first pilot lot of the 6949— grade. By February, prices for Russian black PE100 had moved at RUB55.000Ц56.000/mt, including VAT. Asian polyethylene is offered on average at RUB60.000Ц62.000/mt in the Russian market.
