Technical issue takes out Cologne LDPE line operated by Ineos

February 10/2010
February 10 (plasteurope.com) -- A technical issue knocked the smaller of two LDPE lines operated by Ineos Olefins & Polymers Europe (Lyndhurst / UK) at Cologne / Germany off stream in the early morning hours of 4 February.

Ineos said the plant is likely to be down for about two weeks. To ensure that there is no impact on customers in the interim, the group said it is moving some supply to its LDPE unit at Bamble / Norway. The Cologne site is believed to have total LDPE production capability of around 400,000 t/y.
