PP-impact Ц impact polypropylene
PP-impact is a block-copolymer of propylene; it has crystalline order, and it is a cost-effective construction thermoplastic. Compared to homo, block-copolymer is characterized by better impact resistance (Charpy impact viscosity with notch Ц up to 10 kJ/m2, without notch Ц does not disintegrate), that explains stronger frost-resistance of the material. Higher impact resistance is characterized by lower hardness and rigidity (tensile yield strength Ц 20-30 MPa). Durability of polypropylene block-copolymers is somewhat better than that of homo, but it is worse compared to a number of other materials (polyamides PA6 and PA66, PBT, etc.).
For in-depth analysis we seldom refer only to the Foreign Trade Code (Group 3902), but we make our own more precise correlation of PP types by each grade of each producer.
