Bayer MaterialScience returns to 37.5 hour work week

October 14/2009
October, 14 ( -- Starting 1 November 2009, working hours at Bayer MaterialScience’s German sites will return to normal. Since February more than 4,000 employees had been working reduced hours for less pay in an effort to avoid short-time working in the production segment. The cuts had also affected managerial employees, whose annual pay increases were scrapped.

Tony Van Osselaer, labor director at BMS, said the return to the normal 37.5 hour work week was a result of an “improvement in orders.” However, he cautioned that “the future business development of our customer industries still remains uncertain.”
