Engel and Cantoni introduces new inject2blow method for PE, PP, PET and PC thermoplastics

(engel) -- Engel Austria and Cantoni have developed together a new intergrated inject2blow method which combines the injection moulding and blow moulding processes in one mould on one injection moulding machine and significantly reduces time and costs in the manufacture of cosmetic, drug, and food containers by doing so. By introducing this innovative method, the two companies have set a new standard for process integration.

The new method allows small ready-to-use containers to be manufactured in one process instead of using injection moulding first and then subjected to a second process on a blow moulding machine before they become a final product. This combination method is the first of its kind available on the market.

Other benefits of integrating the processes include lower system investment costs, a smaller system footprint, higher system availability, simpler quality control, and no maximum clamping force. The inject2blow method can be used to process a wide range of thermoplastics from polyethylene, polypropylene and polycarbonates to PET.

Engel is, as a single brand, the largest producer of injection moulding machinery worldwide and a leader in the field of injection moulding technology. Engel’s integrated systems solutions include injection moulding machinery, automation, process technology, tool design, training and service.

Asian and Middle Eastern producers to rise PP prices for October

MOSCOW (MRC) -- Asian and Middle Eastern producers on the back of high prices in Europe have announced a price increase for the October shipments of polypropylene by USD30-50/t, as per MRC analysts.

Asian and Middle Eastern producers amid high prices of polypropylene in Europe also aimed price increases. Producers have announced an increase in export prices for polypropylene markets in Europe and CIS countries by USD30-50/tonne, compared to the September level.

Last week the deals for October shipment of polypropylene from Asia to CIS countries were at USD1,480-1,540/tonne, FOB. Makers from Saudi Arabia have voiced their offers in the range of USD1,540-1,580/tonne, FOB.

The October decline in export prices of European polypropylene and the expectation of further price cuts in November made many companies from the CIS countries hold back from purchasing of polypropylene in Asia and the Middle East in October.

Braskem Idesa awards engineering deal on Mexico Ethylene XXI project

(hydrocarbonprocessing) -- Braskem Idesa awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract on its Ethylene XXI project to a joint venture company comprised of Odebrecht (40%), Technip (40%) and ICA Fluor (20%).

ICA Fluor is an industrial construction joint venture of its own, including Fluor and Mexico’s Empresas ICA.

Together, the three companies will design and build the new Etileno XXI petrochemical complex in the Mexican state of Veracruz. The overall deal value was USD2.7 billion.

The new petrochemical complex will include a 1.05 million tpy ethane cracker and integrated polyethylene (PE) plants. The cracker will be based on Technip technology, while INEOS is providing the high-density (HDPE) technology and LyondellBasell the low-density (LDPE) technology.

The joint venture project team will utilize several operating centers around the world to execute the project.

The project, of which Braskem owns a 65% stake and Idesa the remaining 35%, is expected to start up operations in June 2015.
