MOSCOW (MRC) - Imports of unmixed polyvinyl chloride (PVC) into Kazakhstan dropped to about 13,000 tonnes in January-May 2015, down 48% compared with the same time a year earlier, according to MRC analysts.
May imports of unmixed PVC into the country seasonally grew to 3,600 tonnes, compared with 3,100 tonnes in April. Total PVC imports into Kazakhstan decreased 13,000 tonnes in the first five months of the year, compared with 25,000 tonnes year on year.
Such a serious decline in PVC imports in Kazakhstan resulted from a fall in demand for finished products from local producers and the complete cessation of further re-imports of resin in Russia. According to the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the volumes of re-imported resin in Russia over the reported period were about 2,400 tonnes.
The main suppliers of PVC in the local market were producers from China, with their share more than 98% from the total PVC imports into the country.
