MOSCOW (MRC) - Nizhnekamskneftekhim (NKNK belongs to TAIF group) has received a nod from "Transneft" for a new brand of polyethylene, which can be applied to a three-layer coating of pipes in oil and gas sector, according to the company's corporate publication.
Nizhnekamskneftekhim's polyethylene PE brand KM 6461 received a positive opinion after the test and qualification test "Insulation Pipe Plant" and Chelyabinsk Tube-Rolling Mill (ChTPZ). On the basis of these qualification tests were conducted at the Research Institute "Transneft" and "Gazprom VNIIGAZ".
"These tests take a long time - up to six months or more. In September, we received a positive opinion from the company "Transneft" for "Insulating Pipe Plant", which allows you to use our three-layer polyethylene coating for oil pipelines. By the end of the year we expect a positive opinion from the company "NII Transneft" for ChTPZ "- said the head of research laboratory of polyolefins at NKNK Ildar Salakhov.
The company has already begun industrial production of a new brand of PE 6461 KM. The key customer - "Insulating Pipe Plant" - received 10 batches of more than 500 tonnes.
Pilot test are also conducted at the plastic factory NKNK to improve the characteristics of the new brand PE for bringing it to the requirements of "GAZPROM VNIIGAZ".
The company also intends to develop a plastic adhesive that will be used when applying a three-layer coating on the pipes.
Today in Russia, there are more than 20 plant producing pipes for the oil and gas industry. Until recently, large-scale production of insulating polyethylene was done only by "Metaclay."
As MRC reported earlier, Nizhnekamskneftekhim in 2015 plans to produce 50,000 tonnes of linear polyethylene.
