MOSCOW (MRC) -- Total imports of polyethylene (PE) into Belarus slightly exceeded 13,400 tonnes in the first two months of this year, up 6.5% year on year, according to DataScope MRC.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics of Belarus, February imports of polyethylene into Belarus seasonally increased to 7,700 tonnes, compared with 5,700 tonnes in January. The main increase in imports occurred for low density polyethylene (LDPE) and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE). Total PE imports into the country increased 13,400 tonnes in January-February 2016, compared with 12,600 tonnes year on year.
Structure of PE imports in Belarus was as follows.
February imports of LDPE and LLDPE increased to 4,900 tonnes, compared with 3,100 tonnes in Juanuary. The main increase in February imports occurred for supplies from Saudi Arabia. Total LDPE and LLDPE imports into the country decreased to 8,100 tonnes in January - February 2016, compared to 8,600 tonnes year on year.
February imports of high density polyethylene (HDPE) into Belarus slightly increased to about 2,800 tonnes, compared with 2,600 tonnes in January. Russian producers accounted for the main increase in PE supply. Total HDPE imports into Belarus exceeded 5,300 tonnes in the first two months of the year, up 33.7% year on year.
