MOSCOW (MRC) -- Russia's overall polypropylene (PP) production rose in the first three months of 2016 by 6% year on year, totalling 361,400 tonnes. Traditionally, Tobolsk-Polymer and Neftekhimia (Kapotnya, Moscow region) accounted for the main increase in the output, according to MRC ScanPlast report.
March PP production in Russia increased to 122,200 tonnes from 116,700 tonnes a month earlier. Tobolsk-Polymer raised its capacity utilisation last month. Russia's overall PP production reached 361,400 tonnes in January - March 2016, compared to 340,300 tonnes over the same period of 2015. All plants, except for Ufaorgsintez, showed a positive result, with Tobolsk-Polymer and Neftekhimia accounting for the greatest growth in the output.
The production structure by plants looked the following way over the stated period.
Tobolsk-Polymer, Russia's largest PP producer, produced 44,600 tonnes last month, compared to 41,700 tonnes in February. The Tobolsk plant's PP production reached 129,500 tonnes over the first three months of the year versus 113,600 tonnes a year earlier.
Omsk Poliom (Titan) produced 15,700 tonnes in March, compared to 16,200 tonnes a month earlier. The Omsk plant's production exceeded 49,700 tonnes in January - March 2016 versus 49,000 tonnes a year earlier.
Nizhnekamskneftekhim increased its production to 18,500 tonnes of PP last month from 17,400 tonnes in February. The Nizhnekamsk plant's PP production exceeded 54,600 tonnes in January - March 2016, whereas this figure was 53,700 tonnes a year earlier.
Tomskneftekhim produced slightly over 12,000 tonnes of PP in March, whereas the February figure was slightly more than 11,600 tonnes. The plant's total output of this polymer was 35,600 tonnes in the first three month of the year, which is virtually the same as in 2015.
Stavrolen (Lukoil) increased its capacity utilisation last month, its PP production rose to 10,400 tonnes versus 9,600 tonnes in February. The Budenovsk plant's output of propylene polymers totalled 29,200 tonnes in January - March 2016, compared to 28,800 tonnes a year ago.
Neftekhimia (Kapotnya) produced 11,100 tonnes of PP in March, compared to 10,400 tonnes a month earlier. The plant's production exceeded 32,800 tonnes over the stated period, up by 19% year on year.
Ufaorgsintez produced 9,800 tonnes of PP last month versus 9,900 tonnes of February. The Ufa plant's output decreased to 29,900 tonnes in January - March 2016 from 31,700 tonnes a year ago.
