MOSCOW (MRC) - Russian companies increased the production of basic chemicals by 5.7% in November compared with October. Total index of production of basic chemicals increased by 3.5% in the first eleven months of the year, as per Rosstat's data.
According to the Federal Service of State Statistics, last month's production of basic chemicals increased by 5.7% in comparison with the October index, with the biggest increase accounted for xylenes and ethylene. Thus, the growth of the production of basic chemicals was 3.5% in January - November of the current year.
Russia's production of ethylene in November grew to 256,000 tonnes against 231,000 tonnes in October, when Kazanorgsintez and Stavrolen shut their capacities for turnaround. Total production of ethylene in Russia in the first eleven months of the year exceeded 2.577 m tonnes, up 4.5% year on year.
November production of benzene grew 118,000 tonnes compared to 109,000 tonnes in October, which was also a result of the shutdown at Stavrolen and Kazanorgsintez. Total benzene production in January-November 2016 exceeded 1.122 m tonnes, up 2.3% from the same period in 2015.
Russia's production of xylols in November increased to 51,900 tonnes, compared with 44,700 tonnes in October 2016. Production of xylols in January-November 2016 totalled 517,000 tonnes, up 3.8% year on year.
November production of sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) increased to 106,000 tonnes (100% of the basic substance) against 99,200 tonnes in October. Total production of caustic soda in Russia exceeded 1.033 m tonnes in January - November of this year, up 3.3% year on year.
November production of mineral fertilizers was 1.811 m tonnes (in terms of 100% nutrients), up 5.8% from the October's level. Russia's production of mineral fertilizers in January-November 2016 exceeded 18.7 m tonnes, up 2.4% than in the same time a year earlier.
Production of all types of fertilizers grew, the exception was only potash production which decreased by 6.1%.
