The polymer products plant to be built in Atirau (Kazakhstan)

MOSCOW (MRC) -- In Atirau (Kazakhstan) in the territory of the special economic zone National industrial petrochemical technopark the plant of polymer products is under construction. The project is realized by United Chemical Company within the government program in development of chemical industry and Program of new industrialization. Total price for the project makes USD85 mln.


Since the 2nd quarter of 2014, Polymer Production, a subsidiary of United Chemical Company, will produce polymer films which will be used for packages production. Over 60% of the production will make BOPP.

Polymir (Naftan) suspended LDPE production

MOSCOW (MRC) -- Belarusian producer Polymir (Naftan) has suspended production of polyethylene for scheduled maintenance, MRC analysts inform.


Today the only Belarusian PE producer Polymir (Naftan) suspended production for scheduled maintenance. In particular, the first production line of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) has been stopped. The planned term of the maintenance is three weeks. The annual capacity of production is 68,000 tonnes.


As we informed before, the second production line of low-density polyethylene was stopped this April. Over January-August total production of LDPE at Polymir exceeded 84,000 tonnes.

In January-July PVC imports to Belarus up by 29%

MOSCOW (MRC) -- This year demand for PVC in the Belarusian market significantly increased. Over the first seven months, PVC imports went up by 29% compared to the same period in 2012, MRC analysts inform. This year Belarusian converters increased consumption of virgin PVC. In January-July PVC imports to the republic grew up to 26,800 tonnes compared to last year 20,800 tonnes.


The main volume of PVC imports fell at European producers, in particular, from Germany and Norway. Imports of PVC from these countries in January-July made 13,400 tonnes and 9,100 tonnes, correspondingly.


This year imports of PVC from USA, on the contrary, reduced nearly by twice and made about
1,400 tonnes.


Such a significant growth of PVC imports was stipulated by export oriented Belarusian producers of profiles. The profiles exports from Belarus over the analyzed period grew up to 14,600 tonnes against 11,000 tonnes in 2012.

UPC to form a JV with Mexican Grupo Petrotemex

MOSCOW (MRC) -- Sistema JSFC, the largest publicly-traded diversified holding company in Russia and the CIS, today announces that its subsidiary JSC United Petrochemical Company ("UPC") has signed a joint venture ("JV") agreement with Mexican company Grupo Petrotemex, S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of Alpek, S.A.B. de C.V. ("Alpek") for the construction of an integrated purified terepthalic acid (PTA) - polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant in Ufa, Bashkortostan.


Under the agreement, Alpek and UPC will elaborate a detailed business plan to determine the project's feasibility. Alpek and UPC will each invest USD 10 mln in the completion of the plant's evaluation stage. Construction is subject to both companies approving the business plan.


The new facility is expected to be an IntegRex PTA - PET site dedicated to serve the Russian market with a maximum installed capacity of 600,000 tonnes PTA and 600,000 tonnes PET. The parties are negotiating the supply of the required material - Paraxylene - with JSOC Bashneft.


The European Commission has approved the establishment of the JV. Implementation of the project will be subject to additional approvals from governmental authorities.

Kazanorgsyntez raised contract prices for LDPE

MOSCOW (MRC) - The largest Russian producer Kazanorgsyntez announced the increase of prices for low-density polyethylene (LDPE) by Rb1,200/tonne, as ICIS-MRC Price report says.


Today, on 27 September, following other Russian producers, Kazanorgsyntez announced the increase of contract prices for low-density polyethylene by Rb1,200/tonne, compared to 1 September quotations. Two weeks earlier Tomskneftekhim and Ufaorgsyntez also announced the increase of contract prices.


As we informed before, Kazanorgsyntez suspended LDPE capacities for 5 days starting from 21 September. Now production of LDPE has been restarted.
